Should You Start A Politics Niche Site? I had someone ask me about starting a niche site the other day. They were new to the subject and so asked the beginner questions; what’s the best niche, how many posts do you need and what posts should you be writing? That sort of thing. Now, it’s…
I was browsing the internet the other day and came upon an interesting discussion about ghostwriting. An author questioned ghostwriting, and rightly pointed out that authors – long term – would be better off not being ghostwriters. Instead, they should write their own books, market them and build their own brand. Is this good advice?…
As you all know, I have a thing for templates and swipe files and the like. The more I think about it, the more I realise you can extend this. The rationale being that the more you have to hand as a personal set of tools, the quicker, more efficient and more effective you are….
Learning From Fiction Over on Twitter earlier, I saw someone had tweeted that you learn more from fiction than non-fiction. Is that true? Let’s find out. Mythology and Humans Humans learn from fiction. Fiction likely began as parable and gnomic wisdom. Gnomes and parables are essentially mnemonic devices. Yet there are two problems with using…
Or, How Not To Create A Webinar The other day, I watched a webinar about cryptocurrency. It was titled “Cryptocurrency Beginner to Advanced Masterclass” or something similar. It was also horrible. As a copywriter, you get the whole “you’re just evil salesmen doing that horrid sales stuff to trick people into buying!” For the most…
You might think that your lack of success is due to not having any good ideas. The good news is that it’s not that at all. The bad news is that it’s something else. It’s not that you don’t have good ideas, it’s that you don’t have enough valuable skills. This might sound harsh, but…
Why You Shouldn’t Mind Unsubscribers Despite inevitable protestations to the contrary, if you provide high quality information that’s exclusive and original, you won’t get many unsubscribers. Despite people being swamped with content, there’s a lack of good content and you can provide content that nobody else can if you put your mind to it. Keep…
How To Find Good Products For A Very Specific Niche Site Sometimes it’s hard to find a good affiliate program even when you’ve found a good niche. Or what you think is a good niche, at least. I found a new niche this week when I wasn’t looking for it. I came across this little…
Yesterday I answered a question by reader Al on creating niche sites. I’m back again to answer more questions from Al. This time on publishing as an author. (The focus is on fiction, but it’ll work for anything where you sell books.) Al commented on this post from way back in 2015. Times change, and…
Short-Form Sales And Product Descriptions It’s been a while since I wrote a technical how-to guide for writers that really hits at the nuts-and-bolts of copywriting for the internet. Seeing as I’ve been fielding a few questions about e-commerce recently, let’s revisit the topic of product descriptions. I wrote about how to write product descriptions…
