Niche Site Saturday Week 49
It’s niche site Saturday, and we’re back for the latest update of the niche site challenge.
Or, we would be, but my day of niche site challenging is not happening, and this update is barely happening at all. More on that in a moment.
Every week, I post an update on building niche sites, complete with random thoughts, my progress and other fun stuff.
The niche site challenge itself is a part time one, designed to get people building niche websites that they can make passive income from.
What have I Done This Week In The Niche Site Challenge?
Last week, I said that I was feeling burnout from building niche websites. This week was no different, however I decided that today I was going to work through the burnout and work on my niche sites anyway.
Unfortunately, fate didn’t agree with my assessment.
Without going into the finer details, my computer is out of action. Hopefully it’ll be right-as-rain by tomorrow, Â but it’s put a dampener on me getting anything done.
At the moment, I’m typing this on a tablet with a slightly malfunctioning bluetooth keyboard. For some reason the poor thing has a weird sensitivity issue and so some of the keys fire slowly compared to others. This means atrocious spelling and lots of editing.
All in all, not perfect for writing this article, and completely inappropriate for writing anything massively challenging  like a niche site or sales letters.
random thoughts – niche sites as portfolio pieces
Remember yesterday and the day before I wrote articles about moving into a new niche for copywriting?
Of course you do.
Here’s a funny thing… I’ve never thought of niche sites as opportunities to prove you knew what you were talking about before. But you can do. For something you’re completely uninterested in, this might be completely overkill, but let’s say you have a career as finance guy or you want to get hired as a graphics designer in the tech niche… it’s the twenty-first century, and being able to say, “Hey, I love this stuff so much I write a blog about it in my spare time” might swing you deal or two.
Who knows, the fact that you’ve reviewed all the latest, greatest products in a field might make you seem like more of an expert than you are?
This all plays into a wider set of experiments I’ve been chewing around in my mind for a few weeks now about technology and human beings. Really, we’re part of the first generation where “Using technology to get ahead” isn’t an option so much as it’s a necessity (and tremendous opportunity.)
Anyway, more on that another time. Technology isn’t really being my friend today.
For now, it’s over and out. As always, let me know your thoughts, opinions and experiences regarding niche sites and I hope you’re all doing well. !
