How Many Words Should I Write In A Day? It’s easy to get caught up with thinking you have to write thousands of words a day, but on the other hand tales abound of writers who’ll be happy with 500 words a day. If you’re a masochist who reads my blog regularly, then you’ll…
How Much Should Writers READ? When it comes to writing professionally, there are two bits of advice that are universal: You need to read a lot You need to write a lot Yesterday I wrote about how many words writers should aim to write in an average day. In today’s article we’ll deal with the…
Synergy Between Projects My friend Kyle recently mentioned the Niche Site Challenge and I in his podcast, Troublesome Radio. He was referring to this post, in which I talked about a big mistake I’ve made: random niche sites and projects everywhere. Kyle’s thoughts are spot on: it’s much better to have synergy between your…
Risk And Writing The number one thing that paralyses writers doesn’t really exist. Writers will routinely paralyse themselves with various fears and try and juggle hypothetical scenarios, calculating risks that aren’t there. What if I lose my money? What if people hate me? What if I’m wasting my time? The happy and honest fact…
Incremental Improvements Among self-development circles, there is a tendency to assume that you must “walk through fire” if you want to make a lasting change in your life. In fact, I don’t really have a visual eye for design at all. One thing that Gary Halbert suggests that absolutely nobody does (that I’ve seen)…
Why Writing Books Is An Incredible Investment For some reason, secondary school didn’t completely kill my interest in arithmetic. This article is going to be a basic guide to the arithmetic of being a writer. A lot of people think that you have to starve if you’re a writer. A lot of people assume that…
Pick Your Battles I’m not a fan of the 80/20 Pareto Principle-style thought-train. That’s not because it it’s inaccurate, but because it quickly delves into “idea man” thinking. People tend to think, “Hey… I could do 20% of the work and get the same results!” Big mistake. I am a fan of picking the right…
