Niche Site Saturday – New Year’s Eve Edition
It’s New Year’s Eve, which means you’re probably not reading this, but more importantly, it’s the weekly update for the Niche Site Challenge.
In this article, we’ll go through the motions – what is the Niche Site Challenge, what have I been doing and then I’ll throw some interesting stuff in about my plan for my niche sites in 2017.
Let’s get to it so you guys can go and get drunk or something.
What’s The Niche Site Challenge All About?
Back sometime in April, I read some tweets from Robert of 30 Days To X. Those tweets suggested you could make more money than a doctor working part time just by creating simple niche sites.
You didn’t have to create products.
Nor did you have to pay for advertising.
In essence, you just had to sit and write some sales letters, put them on a little website with minimal attention paid to the finer details of SEO and the like, and then rinse and repeat.
I was equally dubious and excited at the above, so I decided to turn it into a little challenge for myself. I’ve welcomed other people – occasionally they pop up in the comments.
Anyway, the rules are basically above. You build niche websites and try and make money with them through affiliate links. It’s all fun and sometimes profitable.
What I’ve Been Doing?
Since sometime at the end of November, the amount of time I’ve spent on my niche sites – and work in general – has suffered. Life gets in the way, never mind. Over the Christmas break, I’ve taken a week or two off from the Niche Site Challenge voluntarily, which is quite nice.
Unfortunately, it means we have to skip directly to the next section.
What I Will Do in 2017
I’m going to finish the Niche Site Challenge this year. I’m going to finish ahead of schedule because I’ve spent the past month or so planning what comes next. If you want to know more about planning and getting ahead of schedule, you should probably check out these articles:

- Getting ahead
Obviously, I’m going to keep up with the weekly updates, and as some of these sites become a bit more complete, we’ll have some more exciting stuff going on.
Of course, once the Niche Site Challenge concludes, I’m going to throw in a ton of other stuff that’s outside the remit of the challenge at the moment:
- Product Creation
- PPC (If Applicable)
- Email Marketing/Social Media Stuff
At the moment, my niche sites are working according to the standards of the Niche Site Challenge. No advertising, no social media (except I have auto=posting when a new article is released) and no product sales.
This is quite limiting, but that was one of the points of the challenge – to prove that a site could be financially successful with a very limited set of constraints. I’m pretty glad I’m sticking to the requirements because it’s a learning experience.
However, the Niche Site Challenge finishes on May 1st, 2017. Whilst I can’t tell the future, I’m pretty sure some e-books are going to be released on May 2nd, 2017.
Also, I’ve learned a lot about other stuff this year that I didn’t foresee nor plan for when I originally started the Niche Site Challenge; especially the first four niche sites I launched in May 2016. I’ll be sorting those out in the next few weeks.
2017 is going to be exciting for Niche Site builders who have the good taste to follow this site.
Final Thoughts
We don’t really need to elaborate further on the above article. Not much has been going on, but 2017 is going to be awesome for niche site builders.
