Niche Blog Marketing: How To Market Your Niche Blogs

Making niche blogs is a quick way to build up a portfolio of websites that make you income with very little commitment.

However, a problem that a lot of people run into is that they get a domain, write a few articles, and then they get next to no traffic to their niche blogs. Niche blog marketing is something that a lot of gurus talk about; especially when they want to offload an SEO plan that costs a couple of hundred dollars per month.

This article will not give you my secrets and processes when it comes to how to market your niche blogs, but it will give you a framework and decision making process so that you can create your own niche blog marketing strategy. (That’s more valuable than a step-by-step guide anyway, so it’s better for both of us.)

Why You Don’t Want To Spend A Ton Of Time And Money Marketing Your Niche Blog

Niche blogs, and niche sites in general, have a limit on how much money they’ll make. Most guys I know who do really well with niche sites tend to cap out at maybe $1000-$1500 a month for their best performing sites.

Most niche blogs will earn a lot less than that.

The way I see it, if you build a niche site and do some affiliate marketing on it, if you make more than the $10 domain name and the hosting, you’re making a profit. If you make $50 a month, then that’s great. If you make $100 a month, then that’s even better!

However, when Mr. Guru from your favourite internet marketing forum says, “Hey, you need my Niche blog marketing package; It’s only $200 and includes 500 backlinks!” you’re about to get duped.

Firstly, if you spend a lot of money on backlinks, social posts and the like, you’re not going to make a profit. It’s as simple as that.

Secondly, this guy is probably giving you exactly the same low-quality SEO spam stuff that he’s giving every other client; down to the same comments on the same blogs and same forum posts. You are going to get next-to-no benefit from that. You might even see your site do worse than if you’d not done anything.

The other alternative is to do these things yourself. You could build hundreds of backlinks to your site. You could spend hours tweeting and posting to Facebook about your niche blog. Ultimately though, if you’re making $50 a month from your niche blogs, then this is not going to be worth it.

So, How Do You Go About Niche Blog Marketing?

You’ve all heard of the Pareto Principle, right?

Essentially, it’s the idea that twenty-percent of your time provides you the majority of your results – be that in money, fulfilment or otherwise.

So, if you are building a niche website, twenty-percent of your best work will produce eighty percent of your profits.

I don’t want you to stop there though. I want to talk about the implications of this.

Essentially, if we keep breaking down our activities, we’ll be left with what produces the most results for the least amount of work.

When it comes to marketing your niche blog, that’s where we want to start.

No Effort, More Results

I’ve talked in the past about how to overcome your competition by using social media for your niche sites.

However, today I’m suggesting you put in next to no effort into your niche site marketing. I must be going mad?

Not exactly.

I like to build systems so that I only have to think once. My brain is pretty small, and so working out how to do things more than once isn’t something I do well at.

Luckily, there are some great tools for you to use so that you don’t have to worry about working too hard on your social media.

I use IFTTT for cross-posting to a variety of social media websites.

Recently, I’ve started using Buffer for Twitter – the results have been great.

I also follow exactly the same system every time when it comes to other backlinks. This takes about five minutes, and doesn’t require anything other than posting to a few places that are explicitly for placing links to my articles.

I don’t do anything else on a general basis.

Setting this stuff up takes about ten minutes, and then I post links in relevant places as and when I need to, which takes about five minutes.

That’s all you require for a niche site marketing strategy; except for one thing.

A/B Testing Your Automated Niche Blog Marketing Stuff

Luckily, when you spend five minutes on a niche marketing system that constantly works for you, you can also extrapolate it to every niche blog you build. But there’s one more thing you need to do: improve your system.

Luckily, every niche site you’ll make now and in the future benefits from this process.

Different processes require different systems. You can post to Twitter every twenty minutes or so 9not that I’d recommend that) but you can’t post to Facebook in the same way.

You can spam backlinks to a million different places, but it’s probably not going to work.

You have to find the right recipe for each platform. That’s where the A/B testing comes in.

Also, there’ll be certain platforms that do/don’t work for each niche blog you write for.

For instance, is your topic better served by posting to Instagram or Twitter? Some niches are great for Instagram, others not so much.

Does your site gain from guest posting on other sites? It might do, it might not.

A/B testing is how you find out what works best.

Final Thoughts

Again, you want to minimise the time you spend on this, and you don’t want to test more complicated processes because then you have to account for the added effort and time you’re going to spend.

Simple solutions that are easily to replicate are what you’re looking for.

That’s essentially niche site marketing in a nutshell, and it’s all you need to get started with learning how to market your niche blog.

Of course, the best way to market your niche blog is to write more content. Don’t forget that step!
