Niche Site Challenge: Week Six

It’s week six of the niche site challenge. I’ve got a confession: I did next to nothing on the niche site challenge. My niche sites sit dormant until I get around to having some free time again. That’s the bad news. The good news is that at least this article is going to be short, so you can get back to your own niche sites quickly.

What I’ve Done This Week?

In short… not a lot.

Last week, I wrote that I’d got into a schedule. This week, that was destroyed. I spent a day on a project that went nowhere, I’ve had another couple of projects start that might go somewhere. I wrote a single-page website/sales letter that took ages but I’ll never have to think of again, and on Wednesday two of my big copywriting clients contacted me on the same day with projects they needed doing.

In short, the niche sites took a big back seat.

I wrote a twelve page niche site in one day last week. I’ve got an article coming up in the next couple of days about that. I mention this because the niche site challenge took such a backseat that I didn’t even get around to buying and setting up a domain for a site I’ve already done the hard work for.

Anyway… that’s what I’ve done.

Thoughts

I’ve never done a year-long project before, and this week has made me realise just how long a year is in project terms.

Still, one ‘lazy week’ is ok, and it’s allowed me to reorder my thoughts on what I need to accomplish and when. The one-day niche site is about to be up-and-running – that’s Site 5. I’m going to leave it for a month at least to see what traffic it gets on its own.

(I know I haven’t posted the article yet about the one-day niche site, but I’ll get to it. It was on my hard drive as of last Sunday, but I simply forgot to post it.)

Really, all 28 sites need to be done in the first six months or so if I’m going to have financial success with them by the end of the year. I’m trying not to think about the scale of it all though. One site at a time, aim to get a few sales letters and then worry about the scale thing.

Other Articles That Relate To The Niche Site Challenge

Whilst I didn’t get around to working on my niche sites, I managed to write some articles about niche sites and other related things.

Do You Need To Write How-To Articles For a Niche Website?  Is an article that talks about the different types of articles you might find on a niche website, and how they all merge together to create a better and more profitable site overall.

Competitive Copywriting Niches: A Quick Guide is not related to niche sites per se. However, you can write sites on topics where other people won’t dare to tread. It’s pretty easy to get enough knowledge to provide useful information on pretty obscure topics if you’re willing to do your research.

In terms of niche sites, that means using products that are niche-oriented, but that aren’t “cool.” For instance, I once had to write sales copy for a company that made parts for agricultural equipment. Whilst that’s not interesting to the majority of people, the parts and equipment were worth hundreds and thousands, and by creating a niche site around them, you’d have next-to-no competition and profitable keywords by default.

Final Thoughts

I’ve created a conclusion out of habit, but there’s not much to conclude here. Hopefully, you’ve all had a better week than I have.

If not, then get back on the wagon and let’s build some niche sites. Even if you’ve barely started, we’re still only on week 6 out of 52 – you’ve got plenty of time left.

If, on the other hand, you’ve been doing well, then let us all know what’s going on!
