Niche Website Challenge Week Seven
Another week has gone by in the niche site challenge. Hopefully, everyone is doing well.
This week, I put the finishing touches on a website, and I’ve got quite a bit to talk about as I think I’m going to change my approach slightly.
Let’s jump right into it.
Thoughts And Stuff
When I started the niche site challenge, I anticipated spending a couple of hours a day on niche websites and writing as and when I felt like it. That was a great approach while I had the motivation and free time to do it. In the first four weeks, that was the case.
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve found it a bit of a challenge, and realising that I’ve got a lot more sites to build in some future time as well made it all the more stressful.
Part of this is that I’ve got so many other projects to juggle; I’ve been writing for clients in the mornings, working on books and other sites in the afternoons, then writing for this site. To then spend my evenings writing on a completely different subject that changed day-by-day was a bit much on top of all that.
So, I decided to opt for a different approach: I was going to spend a day working solely on a niche site, and see how much I could get done.
This could be construed as cheating, because the idea of the niche site challenge was to work on it part time, but seeing as I wasn’t working any more hours over a week, I’ve let myself off.
Essentially, it worked out pretty well. I wrote about 10 articles for a site, and have written a couple since now that the hard work is done. Niche Site #5 exists.
In addition, I made mistakes in the process which I wouldn’t make a second time – you can read about those in the article below as well.
I’m going to give Niche Site #5 a couple of weeks to see if it gets indexed by Google and I start getting search engine traffic, and then if that works, then I’ll probably do the same for a few more niche sites.
A lot of this comes from the fact I want to create 28 niche sites in one year. Now, I figure that if I spend one day a week building a site (8 hours or so) it’s still a part time project, but I’ll be able to concentrate more and worry less. It’s also probably more useful for readers who work a full-time job because working in the evenings after a full day is rubbish, whereas spending a weekend day working on a niche site which is finished in the same weekend is probably more likely to happen.
After I’ve created 28 sites and filled them with some handy articles, then I’ll probably go back to writing part time during the day – or whenever I feel inspired.
That’s my plan right now. It’s subject to change as my commitments change, I suppose. I might try this a couple of times and hate it.

I’ve only written one article about niche websites this week, but it was a pretty extensive one.
How To Build a Niche Website In One Day
Essentially, it talks you through the process I went through to create a niche website in (almost) one day.
It’s something I’m going to play around with, as I’ve talked about above. If you did this every weekend, then you could have 50 niche sites in a year.
Like I’ve said above, and said yesterday, we’ll see how this approach works as opposed to the other niche websites I’ve been building.

Something that’s cool about niche sites is that everyone has a slightly different process, and will come up with slightly different views based on their particular findings and processes.
My process is slightly different to James’, whose process is slightly different to Alex’s. They’re all broadly similar though, and will take you to the same place.
That’s why it’s important that you do these things for yourself – it’s the only way to really learn, and you’ll have your own insights and thoughts to add to the pile when you do.
