Listen To Your Readers
For instance, since writing the series of blog posts on 20 Books to $50k, which you can read here:
- 20 Books To $50k Thoughts (Part One)
- 20 Books to 50k: What Is “Making A Living” Writing And How To Do It
- 20 Books to $50k Challenge Part 3: How I’d Do It
I’ve had unprecedented* feedback in the form of blog comments, emails and chats on the group chats and other places which has made me think that a lot of people are very interested in this subject.
*By unprecedented, I mean that there aren’t so many readers nowadays and so the fact I’ve had quite a few of you reach out and say you’re interested in following this project, that says that I should probably pull on the thread.
And honestly, sometimes you have to accept that an idea just makes sense.
If It’s All Upside and No Downside…
… you should probably just do it.
So this morning, I figured that if I were to just focus on writing fiction (maybe non-fiction) books for the next few weeks, and then focus this blog entirely on the benefits and how-to’s of doing so, I’d achieve:
- Books for sale
- Proof of concept
- Plenty of free lessons for blog posts (and potentially premium lessons for the Vault if we ever sort that out)
- Probably having a lot of fun
- Creation of a valuable experiment/resource for you readers who’ve indicated you want it already
Then, being even-handed, I tried to think of the downsides. Now, if I were a full-blown copywriter still, you could argue that it’s contaminating the well, but this blog is already a random assortment of bits anyway. If I had a focused plan, you could argue I’m getting distracted. But I really don’t – and have complained recently about not having one.
So, all in all, it looks like that might be the plan going forward. Maybe for the next twenty weeks or so. I’ll give it until the end of the week to crystalise in my mind, but otherwise, that’s what we’ll do.
My personal hope is that I might actually have renewed inspiration and focus if I concentrate just on getting this project up and running in full view for you guys to learn from. (For better or worse.)
See you in the next post, where we’ll try and put this together properly.
