(And Why The Vault is the Half-Life III of Entrepreneurship)
It doesn’t take the eagle-eyed among you to notice that a lot of my projects seem to either never finish completion or simply take a long time to get here. (That’ll be the distraction posts coming through since the beginning of the year.)It’s a fair and valid criticism and I’d be lying if I said that it was nothing to do with personal weaknesses on my part.
However, I consider it more a virtue than a fault that I’ve never put out a bad product on making money online. When you see the borderline-scammers that come, go, disappear and sometimes get prison sentences or, worse yet, called bad things on Twitter, (Rest in Peace, still not going to call it X,) it’s easy to reinforce the idea I’ve done the right thing.
There are, for me, two big roadblocks to selling advice online.
The first, and most obvious, is, “Do you walk the walk?”
Now… a lot of guys don’t and that doesn’t stop them. I’m not in that category, and by virtue of making money online for years and not talking about it I don’t think I’ll ever be there. However, I’m also not comfortable with the whole, “Can’t tell you, there’s an NDA” or, “My projects are private,” reasons. It’s low-grade and so I’ve waited until I’m ready to launch unrelated and unconnected projects in public to prove the walking is going on.
But the second is more pressing for me.
The Problem With Talking Entrepreneurship Online
The problem with talking about, much less selling entrepreneurship information online is that, as everyone who has ever bought a, “Here’s the template of what to do to make money” course has found; is that the minute you sell that, it burns out, and for the most part, it’s already burned out before you sell it.
If it ever worked. (Hello all the AI writing course guys right now; that stuff is so bullshit it blows my mind, and I say that as a guy who built a commercially viable niche AI business from the ground up in the past two years.)
The problem with make money online methods is that in virtually all cases is that you’re only going to make the assymetrical profits if you do something that nobody else is doing. That key ingredient; your ingenuity, being ahead of the curve, and so on – completely against the grain of the “here’s my template, follow it.”
What I’m Doing About It
A long time ago, I decided that I’d not release a product that was, “just do this and print money.”
I don’t believe in it, and I believe that your wallet, the world and my reputation are far better if I don’t.
So, I’ve worked on the hard task of creating material that will give you all the principles for you to have unique companies and solve problems in unique fashions as well as all the other stuff; marketing, audience research, selling, customer service, and all the bits and pieces.
That, fellow pirates, has been and continues to be a massive undertaking.
But, at least for the Foundations of Online Business and Direct Response Systems courses, is almost done.
And with a wink and a nudge, I’ll see you all in the next one.
Let me just test this comment business.
