Niche Site Saturday Week 4

I’m starting to wonder how I’m going to fill another forty-eight articles for these weekly sessions.

The good thing about the niche site challenge is that once the hard work of finding the niche and picking the products is out of the way, it’s relatively plain sailing.

That doesn’t make for interesting reading though, so you’ll have to bear with me.

My Challenge

I have four sites up and running. I’m slowly adding content to them. I’ve been waiting for a couple of products to arrive in the post so that I can review them. They’re cornerstone products so once I get those, I’ll be able to work a bit faster.

Starting next week, I hope to be able to post exact figures of what I’m writing and posting. Something like this:

Week 5:

9 Posts Written

4 Published

Or something like that. I’ll probably break it down by site as well.

For now though, there’s not all that much interesting going on.

Something else I need to do is set up the posts to various social media sites, as I discussed in this earlier article. Nothing too significant, but it’s all about using automation to do some of the lifting for me.

Thoughts and Doubts

It’s been nearly a month since the niche challenge started. It’s early days, but I constantly think about the fact that after these sites are established I’ve got another twenty-four to do, at least half of which I haven’t even thought of a niche for yet. So that’s pretty stressful.

Something that’s also playing on my mind is that I tend to put the niche site stuff off. I’ve got books to write, freelance work to do and so the niche site stuff gets put on the backburner.

Of course, those of you who are doing the challenge know that half of the challenge is actually producing regular content, so I’m not doing as well as I’d like in that regard. As such, for June I’m reinstituting a no-leisure-time-internet thing again until I clear the backlog of posts I need to do.

More Reading On Niche Sites

This is a great section to include in my weekly posts on the niche site challenge, because I write more coherent and useful thoughts in my other articles as I’m experiencing the issues. This week, I wrote about the niche site challenge one time directly:

Will The Niche Site Challenge Really Work?

Other than that, I had a non-niche site themed week, which is a shame because my niche challenge posts are the most popular ones on the site. However, three other articles I wrote  are tangentially related:

More Sales Channels, More Business is sort of relevant because our niche sites – and pages on our niche sites, are sales channels in the sense we use them to funnel people into spending money via our links. The more of these the better.

This Template For a 500 Word Article will need some work to fit on a niche site, because 500 words is pretty short, but if you need a quick idea for how to write a sales letter for your niche website, start there.

Finally… Keep Your Business Plan Simple is a good guide for dealing with a niche site. Earlier on in the challenge, we all got stuck overthinking things. There are loads of pitfalls: niche selection, keyword research, the writing itself. You don’t need a massive plan to build a niche site, just an idea of the niche and the products you want to sell.

Also, I said at the beginning I’d link to everyone’s updates as and when they made them. James from RedPillReviews has posted an update on his challenge so far. Make sure you read it!

Final Thoughts

Another week done, and we should start to see sites coming into existence now. It’s crazy how time flies – we’re almost 1/12th of the way through the challenge!

Anyway, I’ll leave it there. As always, drop your thoughts, comments and whatnot, and let me know how you’re getting on!
